The McTeggart Kentucky’s Children’s Irish Dance program began in 1995. Our children’s program includes classes for beginners through elite competitive dancers, ages 4 and up.
Well-ROUNDED, Child-centered dance education
Irish dancing grew out of a rich communal tradition of dance and song, storytelling and music. In many villages and towns in Ireland, this community expression of dance still thrives.
At McTeggart Kentucky, we strive to build a creative community of dance, music, and art. In the Irish dance program, this begins with offering a well-rounded and child-centered dance education. Our curriculum builds each child’s dance skills and knowledge while fostering a love of Irish dance, Irish music, and culture.
We maintain a low teacher:student ratio to ensure high-quality instruction and provide individual attention, and we work with each family to place their child in the appropriate class for their age, skill, and previous dance background.

SCHEDULE
Our beginner classes are offered on Sundays at different times based on the child’s level of dancing.

4:00-5:00pm - Level 2 - older ages
4:00-5:30pm - Level 3
Sometimes schedules shift in minor ways. We are a small school and able to be fairly flexible with our scheduling and enrollment in order to offer quality instruction to each child.

“When Covid-19 enveloped the world in March, we were impressed that McTeggart Irish Dancing was able to adapt quickly and still deliver quality instruction to our boys virtually. Being a parent of four small children, we were also grateful to be able to continue with the routine of Irish step dancing in the comfort of our own homes. Our children were pleasantly engaged through the online classes which offered support, camaraderie, and fun in a time that was (and is) still potentially stressful! As parents, we were thrilled to watch the boys blossom in not only their dance technique but their appreciation of Irish culture. The boys will now sing and hum Irish music while they set the table, and it is not uncommon to see them spontaneously break out into a basic reel step or light jig while doing chores. These are skills our children can carry with them through life to bring joy to themselves and others. I recommend joining the McTeggart family.”
